About Bentley Green Players
Bentley Green Players is an active amateur dramatic group based in Great Bentley. The Players have been in existence since 1990 and is celebrating 20 years since its first meeting was held in March 1990, with its first performance of two one act plays, “In case the Queen looks in” and Costa del Package” taking place in the October.
The group performs two productions a year, with usually a traditional pantomime, performed in January in the Village Hall, and a full length play performed in The Methodist Church Hall in May.
The group is a member of the North Essex Theatre Guild (NETG), with its performances adjudicated by the NETG. The Players have regularly received nominations for the NETG Annual Awards evening, held in September, in a variety of categories. The group among its awards has won “Best Young Actor”, ‘Best Young Actress’ the Adjudicator’s award and the Showcase Festival award. In 2009 there were nominations for “Best Actress” in the January Production, with nominations for Best Actor and Best Set Design in the May Production.
The group raises funds, not only for itself but other organisations in the village; it has in recent years been putting on Murder Mystery evenings, which have proved to be very popular. Members are also keen and willing to partake in other fund raising events in the village where their acting skills are required.
If you would like to come and join us by acting on the stage or working behind the scenes, back stage, then please come along and meet us. We rehearse regularly on Monday evenings in the vestry at St Mary’s Church, Great Bentley. Or you can contact either our Secretary Bev Adams at This email address is being protected from spambots.
